Happy Hooves is a unique, low calorie totally mixed ration for Horses and Ponies prone to Laminitis and those with Cushings.

Happy Hooves is a blend of ingredients high in fermentable fibres specifically formulated for horses with laminitic problems, Cushings Syndromes and horses that can not tolerate high levels of sugar/ starch in their diet.

Happy Hooves has been formulated with chelated minerals including zinc and copper as well as vitamins such as Biotin and Vitamin E. Happy Hooves contains essential vitamins and minerals with high fibre, low starch and low sugars - making it perfectly suited for horses and ponies prone to Laminitis and those with Cushings.

Happy Hooves Is made from Oaten Chaff, Lucerne Chaff, Horse Pellets (made from Soybean Hulls, ) Sunflower Seeds, Di Calcium Phosphate, Magnessium Oxide, Salt, Vitamin and Mineral

Minimum Analysis :

Crude Protein 8.5%
Crude Fat 5.0 %
Digestible Energy 10MJ/kg Dm

Maximum :

Crude Fibre 30 %
Starch 7.4%
Salt 0.9 %

However the key to controlling Laminitis is of course management, including restricting grass intake when pastures are rich and more importantly don’t allow the horse or pony to graze large paddocks of fresh spring grass. The way around this is to strip graze paddocks by using electric tape. The highest value in the grass is in the tips which in Spring and Autumn can and do contain high levels of Fructans. The other important issue with these horses is the provision of grass or Lucerne hay at night time, this helps push the grass matter through the gut with fibre. Lucerne has a very low NSC level and in fact lower than grass.

Directions For Use

Happy Hooves should be used to supplement good quality Grass or Lucerne Hay and grazing pasture.

Feed approximately 1% of bodyweight of the horse per day (i.e. 12 hh 250kg horse = 2.5kg’s per day). This may vary with each horses work rate and or condition, and other available sources of food. You can add further Lucerne Chaff to Happy Hooves but this will decrease the Vitamin and Mineral intake.

We recommend this feed should be dampened and mixed thoroughly before use. I.e. For every 4 scoops of feed, add 1 scoop of water. Should be Damp and Crumbly when fed. For specific advice, please don’t hesitate to call us on 1300 781 244 anytime.
